Sandbox environment refresh

Alma sandbox

The Alma sandbox provides Library staff with an area to develop, test, and train without making these changes visible to users and compromising the data in the production environment. The sandbox environment is completely isolated from the production environment. Any actions performed in the sandboxes do not affect the production environment, and any actions performed in the production environment do not affect the sandboxes..

To differentiate these environments - the live Alma environment possesses a red colour whilst the Alma sandbox environment possesses a teal colour. The sandbox is refreshed twice yearly, in February and August, to mirror the data, settings and configuration of our live environment, therefore please note that any testing or changes to configuration that have been made in the sandbox will be wiped after the data refresh. It is good practice to keep a note of all the changes that have been made to the sandbox for testing purposes so that these can be easily replicated post data refresh.

PrimoVE sandbox

The PrimoVE sandbox environment is linked to the Alma sandbox, so that any changes made to the Discovery functional area within the Alma sandbox will appear on the PrimoVE sandbox - thus allowing for testing to take place without interfering with the live environment exposed to users.

Note the presence of "psb" in the URLs of these environments that distinguish them from the live environments:

https://dcu-psb.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=353DCU_INST:VU1

The PrimoVE sandbox is refreshed in February and August after which it will possess the same settings and configuration as the live PrimoVE environment. However, due to the direct impact that settings and configuration of "Discovery" in Alma has, the refresh of the Alma sandbox environment will also have an impact on the PrimoVE sandbox and should be taken into consideration when testing various settings, scenarios and configurations as these will be wiped after the data refresh. It is important to keep a record of changes during testing to allow for replication in the sandbox environment.

Leganto sandbox

The Leganto sandbox is linked to the Alma sandbox to allow for testing of settings and configuration without any impact to the live production environment and therefore without any undue impact to users.

Similar to other sandbox environments, the Leganto sandbox is refreshed twice a year in February and August. Again, due to the direct impact that settings and configuration of "Leganto" and "Fulfillment" in Alma have, the refresh of the Alma sandbox environment will also have an impact on the Leganto sandbox and should be taken into consideration should testing of various settings, scenarios and configurations be in place prior to the data refresh.

The Leganto sandbox is accessible via the following URL (note the presence of "psb" in the URL of this environment that distinguishes it from the live environment):
