This guide suggests books that could be used to introduce diversity

Introduction

The spring board for this guide is article: The book world is a massive diversity fail - here's how we change it by Catherine Johnson, published in the Guardian newspaper on Friday 17th June 2016. Tab titles are taken directly from the article.

Looking for diversity in children's books is a search for windows and mirrors - reflections of the world as it is and as it changes. It is important that young readers read about characters they identify with (mirrors) and about characters whose experiences differ from their own (windows); this fosters acceptance, respect and understanding.
