Psychology Tests and Measures

PsycTests (EBSCOhost platform)

Produced by the American Psychological Association, APA PsycTests is an extensive database of psychological measures, scales, surveys and other instruments essential to the research needs of students, educators and professionals across the behavioural and social sciences. Updated monthly, this database makes it easy to download select ready-to-use research instruments, including a wide range of reliable measures originally developed for research but never made commercially available, as well as references to classic instruments spanning over a century.

PsycInfo

PsycInfo has a ‘test and measures’ field that you can use to identify tests or measures used by researchers or find a test or measure relating to a specific topic. Enter your search terms and when you get your results you can limit to test and measures (from the menu on the left of the screen).

Watch this video to see how you search for tests in PsycInfo. When you find a relevant test, PsycInfo will bring to you the test (fulltext) if available in PsycTests. Sometimes the test may appear in the appendix of an article.

APA PsycTests is a good sources for finding pre-existing measures/questionnaires. When you have found a suitable test, you will be able to check whether permission is granted for educational purposes for example, here's a record (with accompany checklist) for an anxiety symptom checklist. If you scroll down the record you will see the permission field states "may use for teaching/research".

In this example, the permission field for the 'test anxiety measure for college students' asks you to 'contact the corresponding author'. Corresponding author contact details are provided in the record (email/address).
