Study Tips

  1. Make a study plan and try and stick to it.
  2. Test yourself- it's all very well and good writing notes but it's useless if you don't go over them. After every section/page/chapter think to yourself what you've learnt- even say it out loud.
  3. Find a way of studying that suits you- some people find it useful to rewrite their notes, others can simply read a passage and they'll remember it.
  4. Get a study group together. Studies have shown that students who work together do better overall. You can help each other out, causing less stress for everyone.
  5. Get organised before you start. Gather all your notes together to save you looking mid study session.
  6. Study in a well lit area with a comfortable chair.
  7. Find a time of day that you are most alert to study.
  8. Explain what you're studying to someone else- you're more likely to remember something if you explain it in layman's terms.
  9. Be positive- you know more than you think you do.
  10. The library staff are happy to help students when it comes to finding sources for you.
