Subject Guide for Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering: Citing & Referencing

Citing & Referencing

The recommended style of citing and referencing for the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in DCU may be either IEEE Style, or ASME Style which is usually recommended for literature reviews.

See below for our Style Guide video for using IEEE, information on ASME, as well as information on using Cite Them Right for accurate and up to date referencing information.

Always check with your lecturer what style you should use.

IEEE Citing & Referencing resources

Access the IEEE Style Guide directly on Cite Them Right here.

ASME primarily uses the Chicago Manual of Style for reference format. You may find it helpful to refer to the Chicago reference style covered in Cite Them Right above.

Access the Chicago Style Guide directly on Cite Them Right. An ASME style guide can also be found on the ASME website.

This short video by DCU Library shows you how to cite & reference a journal article in IEEE style
