Library Guide for Business

Academic Writing

The most common method of assessment in third level education is essay writing. Therefore, developing the skills of academic writing are a very important part of your learning experience at University. Good academic writing helps you to express your points clearly and shows the reader that you have a strong understanding of the assignment.

DCU Writing Centre

The DCU Writing Centre is located on the ground floor of the O'Reilly Library and offers guidance with academic writing to all undergraduate and postgraduate students through the provision of online writing resources, live workshops and individual appointments. Tutors are studying at PhD level. Students may visit the Centre during any stage of the writing process: planning an assignment, writing a first draft, or revising and editing a document. Appointments are booked online and are free of charge.

The Writing Centre also provides a range of guides, writing resources, videos and webinars to assist you in all aspects of your writing. More information including access to these resources can be found here.
